  • Network Operator

Tonight I am babysitting a server.  It likes to randomly reboot. :>  Which is not good for servers.  Right now I booted with a Dell diagnostic CD and I’m running memory test Loop 2 of 4.  I’ve been here for 2 hours and really not sure if I want to stick around for the 3 hr test.  All good so far.  Its a Dell PowerEdge 1650 server running Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition.  It has 1 GB of ram and RAID configured 80 GB SCSI drives.  It is a Pentium III 1.8 mhz processor.

I setup my laptop and plugged it into the network.  Funny how you can see the previous post below in the picture.

  • My first Portable Cellular Telephone

I was thinking of how much time passes and I remembered I had my first phone in a box in my office.  I thought it would be fun to open and compare with techology 14 years later.

This was my Digital Personal Communicator or Portable Celluar TelePhone as it says on the box.  I have all of the original documents and box.

Lisa and I bought this phone on January 5th 1993 for $210.63.    We bought it at Brandsmart in North Miami. It is a Bellsouth Mobility Ultra Classic by Motorola.  It weighs a ton.  Lisa remembers carrying it around in her purse.

I’m going to see if I can charge it and see if I can make some sounds.

UPDATE: It worked perfectly.  In fact, I think I can buy a prepaid card and actually make a call.

Cameron thought it was funny and was amazed it was older then him.

Here I am taking a picture of my first phone using my current phone. Ironic huh.

Here is my current phone (on the right ;>).  It is a T-Mobile Dash.  I bought it from T-Mobile in the Oaks Mall for $212.94.
