This afternoon after church Lisa and I went to Garden Gate and bought some plants for the new walkway and driveway.  We first started trimming the spirea and then the evil thorn vines.  This was both hard amd painful.   Maybe our 40 days in the desert.  After much clearing, pulling and frustration we worked until everything was removed.   In the end we ended up with beauty.

Lisa planted this next to our new walkway.  It is just amazing.  What a wonderful photo.

The driveway looks great…. and sounds like an inviting entryway.
The “evil thorn vine” you speak of is called SMILAX – see here:

When I was a child, we would go to the woods near my granny’s house and pull this vine from the trees and make our door wreath and a swag over the door on the front porch with it…it was plentiful, free and all you needed was a good pair of gloves. It stayed green all through Christmas.

I have happy memories of smilax, though at 6051 NW 19th Lane, I fought it constantly too.

    • Paul nice new drive….what did you do with the old one? We will be in Florida the month of June (maybe longer) hope to see you then.

    • Thanks Steve! The old driveway is still there. We plan to break it up. However, a new idea would be to hide it behind a fence and use it for the boat. (In my dreams!) :>
